A Busy Time

It's been an age since I last posted and a lot has happened in that time and not all good.

London was bombed on the 7th of July and almost bombed again the following week. The slightly weird thing about it was that I was actually in London on that day when I am usually in exile in Berkshire (it's not that bad really!), a bit of a coincidence? In fact I was just up the road from where the bus exploded...my other half had a closer call than me, especially since she rides the tubes and buses that were affected! It was a shock but everyone seemed to carry on regardless, that's what you can British and in particular London spirit! The Prime Minister's quick reaction and speeches that day were heart felt and for all his critics I do not think that there is a better leader for our country. The same can not be said of a certain George W. Bush and his fumbling after the floods in the Southern states of the U.S. and in particular New Orleans. He knew that hurricane Katrina was coming, having already hit Florida, and yet when it hit he continued on his holiday and didn't make a statement for 36 hours! It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and there is no excuse for the slow response from the aid effort; they knew it was coming, had ample time to prepare but took days to even start to help the people affected by the devastation. It's a bit scary to think that this is the last remaining superpower!
